"I always keep my word"

"I always keep my word." I say to my children.  The Lord has me say this to hold me accountable when thoughts come to not keep my word. (Matthew 12:37)  The Lord told me that if I don't keep my word, it will hinder my faith from working.  Psalm 15:4 says, "Who despises a vile person but honors those who fear the LORD; who keeps an oath even when it hurts, and does not change their mind;"  So, I always keep my word.

Being the head of my house I sometimes make declaration's of things that I expect my family to obey.  A while back I made the declaration that anyone who uses the restroom, must close the door and turn the fan on.  Well, the other day, I was speaking to my wife and suddenly I got the urge to go to the restroom.  I go in, sit down, and continue to speak to my wife.  My eldest son, Jacob, comes into the room, flips the fan switch on and then start's to leave, closing the door behind him.  I tell him, "Leave the door open, I am talking."  He just continues to close the door, and because he is not obeying his father, I get heated and sternly say, "Leave the door open, I am talking."  He just peeps his head around the door, smiles, and says to me, "Daddy, you've got to keep your word." and then shuts the door.  There was no fight left in me, I was deflated, dumbfounded and sat there with my mouth open, thinking wow, he's right.

I am sitting there in that state when the word of the Lord came to me and said, "When you pray, bring me my word, and that is what happens to me."  I said, "Lord, from now on, I am only going to bring you the word when I pray."  John 15:7
